With the return of The Mandalorian season 2 to Disney+, I felt it was about time to also return to a Star Wars theory. In a previous theory, I talked about how the Jedi could be construed as an 'evil' order. Today, I'm taking that kind of idea and flipping it to talk about the Empire itself! I think The Mandalorian provides us with even more clues that the Empire may not be as wrong in it's philosophy as we thought! How? Why? I think the reason at first they denied Annikan training was because younger kids are more impressionable and it would of been harder to make him you know stay and never betray the jedi. It would also be easier to manipulate and trick these children.

I'm sorry, but I've got to call you on part of your argument: if you're assisting in the construction of a planetary doomsday weapon, then you aren't an "innocent bystander" anymore. I'm in the military. My job is to measure stuff. That's literally all I do; I just measure stuff. I don't even have a gun. Even so, I live on a military base, and if that base got bombed, no one would say that I was an unfortunate innocent bystander because I just measured stuff; they would say that I was working for the military on a military installation and that's all there is to it. The fact holds true for the independent contractors that work on this base too. I'm calling bull on that point; any contractors caught up in the destruction of the second Death Star--though I wouldn't go so far to say they deserved it--were casualties of a war that they chose to assist in and are therefore not innocent civilian casualties. Alderaan is a different case entirely, where the vast majority of the population probably didn't have anything to do with the rebellion at all and were just living their civilian lives as farmers, bankers, entertainers and all those other innocent civilian-sphere jobs that come from living on a planet rather than a military space station. This part of the argument in the Empire's defense, I hereby debunk.

Started as a republic, that was cruel and wrong, then turned to an empire, which was better but was overthrown and toppled partially for RELIGIOUS REASONS. What makes the sith so bad again? Be careful measuring a revolution's worth so soon afterwards....... that is like saying, because there was chaos after the Civil War that it was wrong to abolish slavery....there will always be chaos and death after a revolution, because the thing being challenged had become the status quo, and whomever runs the status quo can hide their crimes/kills way easier. Not to mention, like in the case of slavery, was viewed differently before and after...... So, yeah, definitely CANNOT judge the empire as good just because the killing wasn't as "broadcast" prior to the revolution.

Source? Pretty sure that's not true, extremely xenophobic sure but aliens most aliens had full rights within the empire. Children born to slaves would still be slaves but you couldn't grab an alien in around the core world's and call them a slave and boss them around.

Wait... the Jedi don't kidnap kids, though. The choice to allow the children to be trained was almost exclusively made by the parent, iirc. Doesn't make the Jedi good, per se, but there's a lot more depth to what the Jedi are doing than this, as the Jedi are fully aware that emotions are natural, inevitable parts of life. There is a very real and, in this case, very pertinent difference between suppressing emotions and controlling emotions. Jedi are meant to control their emotions, not suppress them. Obi-Wan very much felt grief and pain, but he was in control of them instead of the other way around, as would be very natural for at least a bit in such situations, something very dangerous for a force user. Hence, the teachings of the Jedi are concentrated on focus and meditation from a very young age to feel the Force surrounding them. Occasionally, as was the case with Anakin, training will start later than usual, after the trainee already has strong emotional bonds with someone like their mom. Combined with other factors, previous emotional attachments may invoke fear of never reconnecting with that person, which can be a slippery slope. By typically beginning training at a very, very young age, these potential problems are nipped in the bud from the get-go. I don't support this as a positive thing, but you're giving them a bit more flak than they deserve, imo.

Counterpoint: In the Clone Wars series, we see multiple instances of peaceful planets with ordinary people just doing their own thing negatively impacted by the arrival of the Empire's rule. Under the old Republic, they were mostly left to their own devices, occasionally paying the central government for nominal protection and access to centrally maintained spaceways and tradelines and such. Not a *great* system, but fairly hands-off. While there was definitely more benefit to the Core worlds from the relationships, unless your world happened to be some kind of resource-rich mining world or something similar, you're mostly ignored. When the Empire does its 'restructuring' into those Moff-managed regions, suddenly no planet is able to coast along on their own, unaffected, and they have to contend with the active management and rule of the Empire, which is often much more restrictive than the old system. The New Republic afterwards, was a mess, no question. They completely lacked the resources and manpower to actually usefully govern a galaxy, and it shows. If anything, the sins of the Old Republic were primarily the sins of the Jedi, and the Republic's reliance on and support of them. The system definitely could have used some serious reforms at all levels, but turning it into an autocratic dictatorship was probably the wrong way to go, even without the planet-blow-uppery.

Let's not forget about what happened on Tatooine, as SOON as the Empire fell, bandits and crime syndicates took over. They were waiting for it to happen, and the fact the "New Republic" was completely unprepared for that situation says a lot, oh, and not only are they ignoring mess on planets like Navarro, but they're the ones who MADE the mess! Um, maybe dig a bit deeper into the Legends material there my friend. The Empire engaged in large-scale slavery. Their regime was horribly racist against "aliens", which is why so many non-humans joined the Rebellion. And their internal military politics encouraged rampant corruption. Vader was trying influence Luke. What, is he going to come right out and say "Join me and together we will slaughter millions!"? As for Leia, well.. just listen to her voice in that scene. The desperation is real. She drops the lies and tries pleading truth because she knows Vader is evil enough to actually do it. Luke's New Order in Legends was the fresh start the Jedi needed, without all those dumb traditions that were born out of fear. ^^

Fucking lol this is so bad. The Empire sent a ton of it's prisoners to Kessel where they would mine spice and stone from the world and then usually die within a couple months from lack of food, water and sleep. "The Empire improves every system it touches" Dude, you literally made a video about Operation Cinder, which was basically the Empire killing it's own citizens and troopers.

here's what it is. It's all a metaphor for the fact we live in a dark universe where might tends to win out and make things better. Sometimes this results in bad things but there's a yin yang---two sides to the force. Light and dark ultimately lead to the same thing---darkness or ignorance or simply being naive. So basically in order for things to work in this universe for peace you have to rule like Darth Vader. That doesn't mean we should. Also can we talk about WHY Luke is so pissed? His sweet uncle Owen buys two droids to help around the house. That was literally the only reason for the droids and the empire killed him, killed his wife, and burned down Luke’s childhood home. Now Luke thinks they also killed his mother and father because that is the story he grew up with. Life was good? Hm you might want to rethink that part just a little because murdering innocent people when they have your stuff isn’t what I’d call an ideal living condition. But kudos on the video it was enjoyable.
